According to reports, Maoists entered a private lodge at Vythiri in Wayanad, Kerala last night and threatened people there at gunpoint, demanding money. On information, the Kerala police rushed to the spot and opened fire against the Maoists. Two Maoists sustained injuries while one was killed in the gunfire exchange.
T P Jaleel has been identified as the Maoist killed, while the injured men managed to escape from the spot. Police are keeping a strict vigil on hospitals at the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border since they suspect the Maoists could head there for treatment.
