The city wore a festive look, as the famous Koniamman temple is much celebrated in the city and thousands of people from nearby district too throng the temple on this auspicious day.

Perur Santhalinga Marudhachala Adigalar flagged off the car festival from Thermutti near Raja street. The deity of 'Amman' in the decorated car passed through important streets like Oppanakara street, Vysial street, and Karuppanna Gounder street.

Devotees offered a huge quantum of crystal salt, pepper to the goddess Koniamman. From the beginning of the festivity, special 'aradhanas' were offered at the temple.
Thousands of devotees and officials of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments department drew the flower-decorated car with religious fervour.

The car procession that started from Raja street culminated at the same spot.
Hundreds of police were deployed in the area to ensure smooth conduct of the festivity.
