Coimbatore : Even as the election works of the TTV Dhinakaran led Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) seems to be dull in Coimbatore, the party could well field the son of former MLA Challanger Durai as their MP candidate from the Coimbatore constituency.
According to party functionaries here, the name of D. Senthilkumar, is well accepted amongst the cadre and official announcement could arrive at anytime once election dates are released.
The party would go through the regular selection process and Senthilkumar is expected to file his nomination. Other than Senthilkumar, no other name has hit the cards. Mooted by the influence of his father Challenger Durai, the District Secretary of AMMK and one of the senior most politicians from Coimbatore, Senthilkumar seems to be the only possible candidate for the constituency despite not holding any official post in the party.
Completing his education from abroad, Senthilkumar would be entering politics for the first time if all things go well.
Commenting on the same, Senthilkumar told the Simplicity that no such decisions have been taken by the part head yet. “We would work according to the directions of our party leader. He will choose the right candidate,” he said.
It may be noted that even as major parties including his archrivals AIADMK have announced alliance and seat allocations, TTV Dhinakaran is yet to open up about alliance for the upcoming 2019 general elections.
