Tirupur : In a gesture of honouring Asian games silver medallist, Ayyasamy Dharun from Tirupur, the Tamil Nadu government presented him with a government job appointment order. Dharun received the order from the Chief Minster, Edappadi K Palanisamy on Tuesday which stated that he was appointed as Junior Officer in Tamil Nadu Papers Limited.
Dharun was honoured for his best performance at the Asian games 2018, for securing silver medals in 400 mts hurdles and 4x400m relay.
Earlier in September last year, while speaking to the media, Dharun had requested the Government for a job in the Government sector which he felt would be of great help for him and his family. "Hailing from a poor family background, my mother being a single parent had to struggle a lot to raise me in life," he added.
Besides Dharun's request, many sports enthusiasts have been urging the Government to offer jobs to sports persons who won medals for India. Considering the request by Dharun and taking into account his family situation, the Chief Minister offered him the Government job appointment.
Responding to the job appointment, Poongodi, Dharun's mother said, "Despite many struggles in his childhood, Dharun was very focused in his dream and worked very hard to achieve this. He is the kind of person who understood our family situation from very young. I am very happy that he got this government job and I thank the Tamil Nadu Government and the Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisamy for his gesture."
