The Nilgiris : The Nilgiris District Collector, Innocent Divya performed a 'bhoomi pooja' for the renovation of Manjoor-Begumpulla Road which is to cost Rs.26.99 crores.
"Kundah-Begumpulla Road is the third alternative road that connects Ooty with Karamadai and Mettupalayam. The road also connects Karamadai with Manjoor, Kundah, Upper Bhavani and Thai Solai.
To renovate this road, funds had been allocated under the CRCF scheme 2018-2019 to expand the one-way road into a two-way road, at the cost of Rs 26.99 crores for a stretch of 22 km through the national highway," said Innocent Divya.
"Construction of barrier walls, expansion of small bridges and hairpin bends will also be carried out as part of the renovation work to ensure safe travel of all vehicles. This will play a major role in developing the tourism in the Nilgiris district and could be the third alternative road route for the district," she noted.
