New Delhi: Challenging the order of the Delhi High Court that dismissed his petition in connection with the ‘Two leaves’ symbol of the AIADMK, leader of the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) T.T.V. Dhinakaran on Tuesday, moved a petition in the Supreme Court here.

The petition was followed by the Delhi High Court order, wherein, they upheld the decision of the Election Commission in granting the two leaves symbol to the AIADMK headed by Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and O. Panneerselvam, who are the current faces of AIADMK.

Dhinakaran had challenged EC’s decision earlier, which was earlier upheld by the Delhi HC in 2017 as the court claimed that there was no infirmity in the poll panel’s order, which allotted the party symbol and name to the faction of OPS and EPS. The court had also felt that there were no grounds for the allegations made by Dhinakaran, who started the AMMK along with Sasikala, accomplice of former CM J. Jayalalithaa.

However, Dhinakaran contested in the Pressure Cooker symbol allotted to him by the EC won in the RK Assembly constituency by-elections with a thumping majority of 40,000 vote margin.

It may be noted that Dhinakaran has not announced anything till date about alliances, whereas two major alliances have already been formed by the ruling AIADMK and DMK in the State.
