Coimbatore : 5.20 lakh families in Coimbatore have applied for a special fund announced by the Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy for people below poverty line.
The State government announced on Monday that Rs.2000 will be given as a special fund for families below poverty line. Following this, a census had been initiated for people below poverty line for which applications were distributed across the district. The Tamil Nadu Rural Development Department (Women) has been submitting the applications online to the State government.
Speaking on this, the Coimbatore District Project Director (Women project) said, "5.20 lakh families below poverty line have applied for this, among which 3.25 lakhs were from rural areas, 1.95 lakh applications were from the city region, 40,000 applications were from the municipal regions and 1.20 lakh applications were received from the town panchayats. All applications are being uploaded to the State government’s e-mathi website."
