An event to provide compensation for people who handed over their land for airport expansion, fund distribution to beneficiaries of poultry farming and distribution of welfare schemes to differently-abled was held at the Coimbatore District Collectorate.
Minister S P Velumani distributed the welfare schemes to the beneficiaries. Rs.75 crores had been allocated for 134 persons who provided their land for airport expansion for which initially a cheque for Rs 1.60 crores had been provided to 13 beneficiaries. Rs.900 had been fixed for agriculture lands and Rs.1500 for plots. 50 chicken were to be provided to 1600 beneficiaries under the poultry farming scheme for which Rs.5.12 lakhs had been provided to 80 beneficiaries, initially.
Scooters for 30 differently-abled at the cost of Rs.15.85 lakhs, sewing machines for 90 people at the cost of Rs.3,76,000, prosthetic legs for 24 beneficiaries at the cost of Rs.35,520 were provided to beneficiaries accounting to a total of Rs.25,83,580 as just welfare schemes.
The District Collector Rasamani, Pollachi MP Mahendran, MLAs Amman Arjunan, Arukutty, Ettimadai Shanmugam and many others took part in the event. Political party songs were played at the function.
