In 2015, house plots were allotted for transgenders at the Neruperichal area within city limits. A order on the allocation of funds to build houses under the Indira Gandhi Housing scheme was provided to them. Meanwhile, more than 50 transgenders staged a dharna in front of the District Collectorate, today.
During the dharna, they alleged that even after four years, officials did not initiate any measure to build houses for which money was being demanded. "Measures should be initiated to build house as cited in the order," they opined. Following this, officials arrived at the spot of the dharna and pacified them. Thereafter, the transgenders dispersed from the spot, after filing their demands as a petition to the District Collector.
