According to reports, Arun Kumar (35), son of Velliangiri, Coimbatore who has been lodged in Coimbatore Central Prison as 'investigation prisoner' in connection to a murder that occurred within Thudiyalur police station range is said to have been under depression. Arun avoided speaking to other prisoners since the day he was lodged in prison.
Arun Kumar attempted suicide this afternoon by trying to cut his neck with a shaving razor blade. Subsequently, Arun Kumar who collapsed in a pool of blood was taken to the Coimbatore Government Hospital where he is being treated in the intensive care unit. The Prison Department and the Race Course Police have commenced investigation regarding the incident.
