The news triggered shock waves among the public, as hundreds of women had been deceived in a similar pattern by the gang which has been operating in Pollachi for the past several years.

Speculation are rife that the men involved in the gang could be backed by politicians and industrialists., as the police booked the culprits under ordinary sections.
Condemning the ‘soft’ action initiated against them by the Police, the members of All India Madhav Sangam staged an agitation in front of Thiruvalluvar Thidal in Pollachi on Monday urging CBCID investigation.
They demanded that lack of transparency in the case and the callousness showed by the police in booking the offenders in ordinary sections has forced us demand a CBCID investigation. The number of women deceived and black mailed by this gang could be much higher, they noted.
As the main suspect in the case Thirunavukkarasu has absconded, the police are on the look out for him to gather more details of the network.
The network was busted recently, after a woman lodged a complaint with the Pollachi police that she was black mailed for cash by her lover with obscene pictures. During interrogation with the person, the police found that a network of people had been indulged in such criminal activities of targeting school and college going girls.
