The body was found near the Chinnaru check post in the Amaravathi forest range in Udumalpet, last evening. On information, the Amaravathi police rushed to the spot but could not find any traces of the body being burnt by miscreants.

The police are in doubt whether the body was dragged into the deep forest by wild pigs. Investigation is being pursued on lines of whether the person was killed by hunting prevention guards while attempting to smuggle trees in the forest or by tribals or other miscreants.

Since the body seems to have been burnt almost 20 days ago, the police have also began investigating whether anyone had gone missing from nearby settlements. Since there have been reports that miscreants are said to be roaming with guns in the Amaravathi forest range in the past few years, this incident has sparked off a furore in the area.
