Coimbatore : MLA R Kangaraj of Sulur constituency inaugurated the newly constructed Sub Agricultural Extension Center in Somanur.
As the agricultural extension centre building functioning in Somanur was in a dilapidated state, the farmers requested to build a new building. It was through the centre the farmers sold their agricultural produce and purchased fertilisers at subsidised prices given by the agricultural department.
The new building was built at a cost of Rs. 30 lakhs.
Chithradevi, Deputy Director (State govt planning), Shabi Ahmed, Deputy Director, Agriculture (Sulur Circle), Sureshkumar, Agricultural Officer and representatives from farming community were present.
