Coimbatore : Members of the Tamil Nadu Revenue Department and Rural Development protested in front of the District Collectorate here, condemning the transfer of 10 tahsildars.
Ahead of the Parliament elections, tahsildars across the State are transferred as per the orders from the Election Commission. Meanwhile, 10 tahsildars in Coimbatore have been transferred to Nilgiris and Tirupur. Condemning this, more than 50 members of the Tamil Nadu Revenue Department and Rural Development protested in front of the District Collectorate, here.

During the protest, Sundar Raman, the Coimbatore Chief of the Tamil Nadu Revenue Department Officers Association said, "Transferring of tahsildars with regard to elections should be cancelled. Since the district to which we are getting transferred is not familiar to us, how it is possible for us to carry out election duties. If no action is taken in this regard, we have decided to boycott our work," he added.
