Coimbatore : Corporation officials have removed encroachments in the 86th ward of the Coimbatore Corporation in Karumbukadai, with police for security to begin Ukkadam-Aathupalam flyover work.
"Encroachments in 42 buildings were removed today. The frontage of few buildings and 10 houses were demolished completely. The slum clearance Board had already allocated houses for these people living in the encroachments in Karumbukadai area", said a corporation official.
He also noted that as prior intimation was given to the public, the demolishing works were carried out smoothly with public cooperation.
More than 50 police were deployed at the spot, even as two JCB and one tractor were used to remove the encroachment.
