The Nilgiris : DVAC sleuths conducted raid at the office of the Adi Dravida Welfare development located at Additional District Collectorate building in Ooty, in connection with embezzlement of funds meant for residential adi dravida schools in the district, on Thursday.
The Nilgiris : DVAC sleuths conducted raid at the office of the Adi Dravida Welfare development located at Additional District Collectorate building in Ooty, in connection with embezzlement of funds meant for residential adi dravida schools in the district, on Thursday.
27 residential schools for adi dravida students were approved a grant of Rs. 1 lakh to enhance their sports facilities and for organising annual cultural functions. It is alleged that the school heads were demanded a bribe of Rs. 50,000 for sanctioning the grant.
Upon complaint, DVAC officials, DSP Dakshinamoorthy, Inspector, Geetha Lakshmi raided the office and arrested Manivelan, Officer of Adi Dravida welfare department.
The officials also seized Rs. 6.30 lakh unaccounted cash from the office.
