Tirupur : Even as the Chief Minister Edapadi K Palanisamy inaugurated the Athikadavu-Avinashi project in Avinashi on Thursday, Minister for Municipal Administration S P Velumani was all praise for the CM for accomplishing the dream of the farmers of three districts comprising of Coimbatore,Tirupur and Erode. He hailed the CM saying, "Indeed, it is a historic moment for Tamil Nadu, especially for the people of Kongu region whose 70-year dream has been fulfilled on February 28, 2019." The project was inaugurated at a cost of Rs.1250 crores.

Addressing a large gathering of party cadres and farmers, the Minister said, "Right from the day Edapadi K Palanisamy was sworn in as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, he was very keen on implementing this project. Though the required funds were not sanctioned by the Centre, the CM had to resolve the issue using State funds and today he inaugurated the Athikadavu-Avinashi scheme. But the opposition which was in power for five times during the last 70 years, did not pay heed to this issue," he added.
"As claimed by the opposition parties, the CM did not come through playing back door politics nor is he anybody's heir. He understands the farmers and the people's needs better than the other leaders. Even for the Anamalayar-Nallaru project, he has formed a special committee. Undeniably, he is leading the State with great political acumen. Under his guidance, the AIADMK alliance will win all 40 seats," opined S P Velumani.
