Tirupur : Hundreds of public, students of Karumdampudur village near Dharapauram, Tirupur district resorted to the Tirupur Collectorate demanding to build a 'community centre' at their village and also pass orders to a private tele communucation firm who presently is installing a cell phone tower in the middle of their village.
Tirupur : Hundreds of public, students of Karumdampudur village near Dharapauram, Tirupur district resorted to the Tirupur Collectorate demanding to build a 'community centre' at their village and also pass orders to a private tele communucation firm who presently is installing a cell phone tower in the middle of their village.
Fearing that the wires passing from the tower could cause health hazards, the villagers and school students protested at the district Collectorate on Tuesday to revoke the order and dismantle the tower.
They also pointed that close to the cell phone tower site, a government school is located in which hundreds of students are pursuing middle and higher education.
They also urged that the government should build a community centre at their village which allegedly is being prevented by people of upper caste members.
After officials promised to consider their plea, the villagers dispersed from the Collectorate.
