Chennai : In the upcoming parliamentary elections, Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi (KMDK) will join DMK and contest in 1 seat, confirms a press statement.
KMDK led by E.R. Easwaran and DMK leader MK Stalin met today at Anna Arivalayam to discuss on the seat-sharing and alliance on Tuesday. "Based on the talks, we have decided that KMDK will contest in 1 seat and will contest using DMK's "Rising Sun" symbol", Stalin noted.
During these talks, DMK's Treasurer Duraimurugan and other senior leaders, T.R. Balu, E. PeriyaSwamy, R.S. Bharathi, K.N. Nehru, Ponmudi, E.V Velu were present.
When meeting the press after the seat sharing talks, E R Easwaran said "Contesting as part of DMK alliance was derived after two rounds of discussions. We have decided and signed up the pact of contesting in one seat. Our party members will work earnestly to ensure that this alliance emerges victorious".
With the probable seat for the KMDK being in the Kongu region, it is to be seen how much in roads this will make in the caste driven voting tendencies of the region.
