According to senior officials from the department, forest areas in at least four ranges including Periyanaickenpalayam , Coimbatore, Boluvampati and Madukkarai have caught fire.
Claiming that most of the forest fire are man made, investigation was on to find the culprit.
However, since forest fire is observed in more areas, putting them down has become a tough task for foresters.
