Coimbatore : A couple from Kerala left CMCH today with joy and relief, as doctors of Coimbatore General Hospital had saved their 3-year-old from a major head trauma.
Muniyandi and Rejitha from Maraiyur near Munnar are part of a tribal community leading a simple life as estate workers in the hills. On January 27, Niranjana, their 3-year-old daughter slipped off while playing and sustained critical injuries to her head.
Following which, the kid was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital. But due to lack of facilities in the private hospital, Niranjana was shifted to Udumalai Government Hospital.
On the same day, the doctors of Udumalai Government Hospital assessed the injury and suggested to transfer Niranjana to Coimbatore Government Hospital for advanced treatment.
Upon reaching the Coimbatore GH, the parents of Niranjana met RMO Dr. Soundaravel and explained the situation and requested immediate attention. Under his guidance, Niranjana was given 15 days of intense treatment. She had damaged nerves in her brain, due to the fall and was kept under continous medical supervision.
During the course of the treatment, Niranjana recovered well and her injury to the nerve started to heal.Today, she was discharged after giving instructions to continue her medications.
The parents were emotional and thanked the CMCH RMO and team of doctors for saving their child and left to Maraiyur with their child.
