Vanitha, a head constable in Salem district has been suffering from Cancer. Though Vanitha is presently deputed in Salem, she started her service in Coimbatore City Police in the year 1997. Following this, head constables who joined service along with her opened a Whatsapp group ‘1997 batch’ to crowd source funds for helping in the treatment of Vanitha.

Their thoughtful gesture helped them connect to their batch cops who were posted in different parts of the State and collect a sum of Rs. 2 lakhs.
The responsive and kind-hearted gesture of the women police was much appreciated by the senior officials of the police department.

Showing his part of generosity, City Police Commissioner, Sumit Sharan arranged a vehicle for the women police to travel to Salem and hand over the funds to the ailing cop in person.
