Coimbatore : The Coimbatore District Collector, Rasamani had ordered that flex and digital banners must have the approval number for placing them anywhere.
Rasamani convened a meeting regarding the rules to be followed in placing flex and digital banners, as suggested by the State Government. Flex printer owners, representatives of political parties, the District Superintendent of Police Pandiyarajan, Balaji Saravanan, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law & Order) and other officials attended the meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, the District Collector said, "The State Government has announced many regulations in placing temporary flex and digital banners without causing any disruption to the public. In this regard, political parties and commercial complexes were advised to adhere to rules in placing banners. Action will be taken against people who place banners by violating the guidelines of the Court. Flex should be placed after submitting the required documents within the fixed duration.
A NOC from the police department and approval from local body departments should be gained compulsorily for placing banners. Flex should not be placed in pathways with less than 10 ft width. Flex can be placed on 40 ft width roads by abiding to the rules. People who violate rules and restrain officials from fulfilling their duty, will be sentenced to one year imprisonment and slapped with a fine of Rs.5000. The amount will be collected from the same person to remove the banner.
If a banner was found to be placed by violating rules, its approval will be cancelled and action will be initiated to remove it immediately. Deposit amount will also not be refunded. Flex print owners should ensure that the approval number provided for the flex has been printed on it. So, political party representatives and flex printer owners should abide by the rules," reiterated the District Collector.
