According to police reports, Rakshana Ruth, a college student has been behind the wheels of the car which rammed on the two-wheeler near ISKCON temple junction on Avinashi road.
The injured is identified as a college student from Thanjavur who presently is undergoing critical treatment at a private hospital.
The public who witnessed the accident alerted the Peelamedu Police. After analysing the CCTV footage, the police confirmed the number plate of the car and launched a hunt to nab the driver of the car who sped from the spot. The public have alleged that two cars had been racing on the Avinashi road stretch from Codissia, out of which one car rammed on a two-wheeler and sped from the spot.
The police have booked the college student under two sections 337 and 279.
