Coimbatore : The shocking allegation of a two-year-old child given HIV infected blood at Coimbatore GH has instilled fear among the patients who visit GH for ailments.
Commenting on this, Meenakshi, President of HIV Positive Welfare Society has slammed that the hospital has to take full responsibility for the act of negligence.
"There are certain possibilities for getting infected with HIV. In this case, the two-year-old child was not born with HIV nor did she have HIV before visiting Coimbatore GH for treatment. Only after blood transfusion at GH, the child has been infected with HIV. Importantly, the parents and the sibling of the child have no trace of HIV", she pointed.
"Considering the future of the child, the government has to probe the issue and provide adequate financial assistance to the family", she urged.
