The City Police Commissioner, Sumit Sharan said that others connected to the crime will also be nabbed at the earliest.
In the gold robbery incident that occurred on February 7, Prathiv Singh who was carrying gold to the airport in a two-wheeler was waylaid by a mob near Sardar Vallabai Patel College near Peelamedu and robbed off all the gold. Following this, five special teams had been formed to nab the burglars.
Jointly addressing the media, City Police Commissioner Sumit Sharan and Deputy Commissioner Perumal said, "A total of five persons including a woman was arrested in connection to this robbery. We are also on the lookout for the gold that has been burgled. CCTV footage did not help us as the incident took place in the wee hours of the morning.
We gathered the footage of the past 15 days from the CCTV installed near the parcel service office and have narrowed down on the burglars. CCTV recordings of many CCTVs installed for a 10 km distance, phone calls and other details were taken into consideration for the investigation with which we have arrested up to five persons including a woman working with the office and her husband. We are on the lookout for the gold that has been burgled," they added.
