The Nilgiris: On February 5th of this year, a leopard entered a house in Paatavayal near Pandalur in the Gudalur area. The forest officials were informed and after a long fight the leopard was captured and taken to safety.

During the capture, the leopard suffered several injuries to its back, calf and other areas and was treated continuously. Under the instructions of Forest Officer Rahul and Forest Ranger Manoharan, veterinary doctors Bharathjothi and Nandini were treating the leopard and attending to it throughout the day.

Now that the injuries have healed and the leopard has recovered well, Forest Officer Rahul has decided to transport the leopard to Vandalur Zoo. He was quoted saying "The leopard has recovered quite well due to our diligent treatment. Based on many experts advice, we have decided to keep the leopard in the Vandalur Zoo and it will be transported in a lorry."
