Piyush Goyal, Railways & Coal Minister has made the formal announcement of the alliance in the presence of O. Panneerselvam, Deputy CM.
The BJP party heads have been in talks with CM, Edapadi K Palanisamy and Deputy CM, Pannerselvam of AIADMK to strike a deal for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
"On behalf of BJP, I am extremely delighted that our discussions on alliance in Tamil Nadu have ended fruitfully for the upcoming parliamentary elections. We are extremely positive that this alliance will bevictorious", said Union Minister Piyush Goyal at Chennai.
In the 2014 elections, the AIADMK had won 37 of the 39 seats, with the BJP winning one and Pattali Makkal Katchi winning another.
Even before its tie-up with the BJP, the AIADMK announced a pact with the PMK and also its share of seats. Chief Minister E Palaniswami and his deputy O Panneerselvam met with PMK's S.Ramadoss and mutually agreed to allot seven seats to PMK.
