Coimbatore: In a shocking incident, parents of a two-year old child allege that doctors at Coimbatore Government hospital had given HIV-infected blood to their two-year-old child who was admitted for treating heart disease.

According to the parents, their 2-year-old child was admitted to government hospital here for heart disease. During the course of treatment he was given blood. Meanwhile, after few months, the child was brought to the hospital for illness. During treatment it was found that the child was affected with HIV.

Following this, the parents were tested and reports revealed that they do not have any trace of HIV. Parents claimed that they did not take their child to any hospital other than government hospital.

However, the hospital authorities at GH have denied the accusation stating that there are no chances of any such incident to take place here.

Meanwhile, members of ‘Maakal Kankaanippagathinar’ on addressing the media has said that the child was affected by HIV only after blood was given to her in government hospital.

"Denial of the accusations by the government hospital authority even before parents have addressed the issue to the media has confirmed the issue", they added.

Meanwhile, parents of the child have urged for CB-CID interrogation into the issue.
