The Nilgiris: Political parties and social welfare organisations formed a human chain in Nilgiris urging to cancel the new Forest Act 16 A. 



Thousands of farmers, members of social welfare organisations and the public formed a human chain in Gudalur, Paattavayal, Devar Solai and Padandhurai protesting against the Forest Act 16 A. Shops in Gudalur will remain shut for 24 hours from 6 am today. The shutdown has jointly been called by political parties, merchants association, small scale farmers association and public welfare association under the banner ‘Gudalur Thogidhi Makkal Padhukaappu Iyakka.'
