Coimbatore: More than 60 incidents of miscreants hurling stones at express trains from and to Coimbatore have been reported since last year. Though the railway police have tightened the vigil yet the issue remains unsolved.

On Sunday, stones were hurled on at Irugur on Shatabdi Express which damaged the glass panes of the windows. However, no passengers were injured. On the same day, stones were also hurled on Kovai express.
Especially crossings at Rathinapuri, Singanallur, Vadakovai and Irugur are more prone to such incidents, reports say.
As several such cases are reported, sensitive spots have been identified and steps to curb such incidents are ongoing, said a railway official.
