Coimbatore: Alleging that the settlement process for land acquisition is facing undue delay, the land owners jointly petitioned the newly assumed Collector, K. Rajamani to advise the officials to expedite the process.
Coimbatore: Alleging that the settlement process for land acquisition is facing undue delay, the land owners jointly petitioned the newly assumed Collector, K. Rajamani to advise the officials to expedite the process.
Though the authorities from land administration department claim that the acquisition process is nearing completion, the approved compensation is yet to be settled, the land owners noted.
Close to 600 acres of land from 24 blocks spread in four villages around the airport has been ear-marked for acquisition.
After a prolonged disapproval of rates and confusion in classfying residential and agricultural lands, the land owners agreed for a compensation of Rs. 900 per sqft for agriculture land and RS. 1500 per sqft for residential land.
The delay in settling the compensation is not only creating unrest among the land owners but also provokes them to disapprove over the finalised settlement amount, pointed the land owners.
"During the Governor’s visit to the city last week, we tried to meet him in person and press our demands. However, the police stopped us and advised us to approach the Peelamedu Police station. The Peelamedu Police Inspector who came to the spot assured to take necessary action", the land owners said.
"So, today we have jointly come to the district Collectorate to petition to the newly appointed Collector and putforth our demand", they said.
