The '102' ambulance service which was introduced in government hospitals under the health and family welfare scheme has now launched ambulances especially to foster the welfare of new born and mothers.
Health department and Indian Red Cross Society has jointly introduced this service to Mettupalayam. The vehicles which were brought at the cost of Rs. 9 lakhs could accommodate 15 persons.
The scheme was introduced to safely shift mothers and new born to their homes from government hospitals.
MP A K Selvaraj, MLA O K Chinnaraj flagged-off and commenced the service in Mettupalayam today. The service which is provided free of cost could also be used to administer vaccination to the newborns.
