Coimbatore: The second edition of Coimbatore Jallikattu organized by the District Administration and Coimbatore Jallikattu Association was received with huge fan fare today.
Over 40,000 people thronged the arena to watch raging bulls and taming heroes jumping and speeding at each other.
In today's event, Karthik from Madurai won the top accolades by taming 13 bulls. He grabbed a car, a bike and two houses as his prizes.
Kannan, also from Madurai tamed 9 bulls and won a bike and one house for his exploits. Ajay, also from Madurai tamed 8 bulls and he won a house for his exploits in the arena.
Also Bose Vijay's bull took the first prize and he won a car for it. Madurai's MP Ambulances bull won the second prize and took away a bike. MLA Vijayabhaskaran's bull won the third prize and he won a Scooty for it.
Minister SP Velumani gave away the prizes for the bulls and tamers.
In today's contest, 71 men were injured and 2 suffered serious injuries and were taken to a private hospital nearby.
