Spectators troubled by lack of bus connectivity to Jallikattu arena in Coimbatore

Coimbatore: For the second year Coimbatore is witnessing raging bulls and brave hearts who look to tame them in the spectacular Jallikattu arenas.

The district administration and Coimbatore District Jallikattu Association together conducted the Jallikattu event this year in Chettipalayam near the L&T Bye pass Road.

Spectators from across the city and nearby places had shown tremendous interest to witness the raging bulls and the taming heroes. Close to 40,000 spectators from Coimbatore, Erode, Tirupur and Pollachi had thronged the arena for the spectacle. Today being a holiday there were more people in the arena.

But reaching the arena meant the spectators had to face severe difficulties and had to walk close to 3 kms to reach the arena if they didn't have their own means of transportation. People who took busses to reach here faced exhaustion by the time they reached and left the arena. Scorching sun didn't help matters either.

Sukumar, a spectator who came last year too said, "Looks like the administration has not learned a thing from last year as this problem was there back then too. And this year too it is like this"

We hope better planning prevails for the next season of Jallikattu and that District administration and organizers take this feedback seriously for there is tremendous interest for the event.
