Pricol Vs Union: High Court grants interim stay in Pricol workers dismissal case

Coimbatore : The High court granted an interim stay to the dismissal of 294 workers by the Pricol Management. The AICCTU affliated Coimbatore District Pricol workers union had approached the Court after the management dismissed 294 workers on February 12, citing that the workers failed to report to duty at their transferred locations.

S.Kumarasamy, National President of AICCTU said that the interim stay has been granted by the Court till February 27 and the company has to pay the workers till then. "When the issue is still under dispute, the management cannot take such a decision and dismiss the workers. We will wait till February 27 and see what the Court decides. But as of now, the company has agreed to maintain the attendance record of 294 workers in the Coimbatore plant and agreed to pay their salaries", said a senior Union member.

Speaking on the stay, Malarvannan, Chief Peoples Officer, Pricol said "The High Court has granted an interim stay.on the dismissal. During the next hearing on February 27, the company will be going for an appeal against the stay".
