The first phase of modern traffic signals installations were done at JM Baker Junction, LIC Junction, GKNJunction, Anna Statue Junction and Lakshmi Mills Junction, today.
"The State government is working towards transforming Tamil Nadu into an accident-free city. The initiative of 'Uyir' organisation in Coimbatore is commendable" remarked Minister S.P. Velumani during the launch of modern traffic signals at Anna Silai at Avinashi road signal on Saturday.
The Minister for Municipal Administrations, Rural Development and Implementation of Special Programmes stated that separate lanes for two wheeler, four wheeler, buses and heavy truck will be laid in the City which to a large extent will enforce discipline in among motorists and reduce road accidents.

The salient features of these Cameras are Capturing and Recognition of number plates, Night vision light, Capturing the road rules violators and Controlling the speed.
This CCTV Camera can work under less than LUX light in the night and the Number plate Recognition can capture the vehicle moving at high speed.
In addition, the Police Control Room can monitor the junctions on a live basis and regulate the time required for the individual traffic signals to be On based traffic density on the main roads and cross roads thereby making the signals intelligent and increase the through-put of vehicles.

Commissioner of Police, Sumit Sharan, Deputy Commisioner of Police, Sujith Kumar, Deputy Commisioner of Police (law and order), Balaji Saravanan, Dr. S. Rajasekaran, Managing trustee of Uyir, Trustees- Vijay Mohan, Founder of Pricol and M.Krishnan, Managing Director of Sri Krishna Sweets were present.
