"Shifting an elephant into a lorry is a very challenging task. The Kumkis have to be pressed into service to push the elephant to get into vehicle during which injuries cannot be avoided. In this system, the elephant will be pulled using hydraulics and there will not be a need for pushing the animal with a Kumki", said a forest officer from the spot.
Presently, the forest department officials, field staff are in the process of shifting the problematic elephant, Chinnathambi from a farmland in Kannadipudur near Udumalpettai to Varagaliyar camp in TopSlip. The animal will be put in a kraal there and tamed.
