Missing panchaloha idol recovered, one held

Coimbatore: A 32-year-old man was arrested in connection with a burglary at the Pattatharasi Amman Temple at Pappanaickenpalayam. A special team has been formed to nab his partner in crime. According to sources, a panchaloha temple idol weighing five kg, a five gram gold chain and cash were reportedly stolen from the temple's hundi.


Coimbatore: A 32-year-old man was arrested in connection with a burglary at the Pattatharasi Amman Temple at Pappanaickenpalayam. A special team has been formed to nab his partner in crime. According to sources, a panchaloha temple idol weighing five kg, a five gram gold chain and cash were reportedly stolen from the temple's hundi. 



On information, the Race Course police inspector, Mohan Raj, registered a case and launched an inquiry. Preliminary investigation revealed that Thandapani (32) from Sri Ramapuram near Pappanaikanpalaym, and his friend Murugan were involved in the case. 



Based on the complaint filed by the Executive Officer of the temple, Ramesh Kumar, police arrested Thandabani and recovered the idol from him. Hunt was on for Murugan, who was on the run.

Meanwhile, the Race Course Police produced Thandabani at the Special Court in connection with idol theft cases at Kumbakonam. Later, he was lodged in prison.
