Udumalaipet: The veterinary team of the forest department successfully darted a tranquiliser on Chinnathambi in an attempt to capture him at Kannadiputhur in Udumalaipet early morning today.
Udumalaipet: The veterinary team of the forest department successfully darted a tranquiliser on Chinnathambi in an attempt to capture him at Kannadiputhur in Udumalaipet early morning today.
While Chinnathambi was chased away from the Sugarcane field where he was resting by Kumki Kaleem, two teams were deployed at different positions to dart the animal.
However, the dart fired by Dr. A. Ashokan missed Chinnathambi.
The dart fired by retired forest staff Thangaraj Panneerselvam hit the heel of the tusker as he brushed into another sugarcane field.
Another dart could be fired at the animal depending upon the effect of the initial dart.
A drone was also deployed to monitor the animal.
Meanwhile, two elephant transport trucks configured with hydraulic pullys has also been brought from Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary to transport the animal to Varagaliyar.
