It was aimed at disrupting the LK Advani meeting that was about to happen on this day. Many lives were lost and some of them were bystanders near the bomb site.
Among those you died during the blast, 7 belonged to Mettupalayam and they died on the spot. To commemorate this, every year cadres from BJP pay respect to the souls who lost their lives.
This year, a peaceful gathering was organised in the Mettupalayam bus stand and the photographs of those who lost the lives during the bomb blasts were paid a floral tribute. They also took a pledge to root out terrorism.
