Ganeshan, who inspected Chinnathambi in Kannadiputhur in Udumalaipet along with District Forest Officer of Tirupur Forest Division Dileep Kumar, said that the tusker would be trained for two months at Varagaliyar elephant camp in ATR and left at Kozhikamuthi elephant camp in the same reserve.
He informed that in addition to the two Kumkis including Kaleem and Suyambu which have been posted in the area, additional Kumkis can be called for if needed.
“The medical team would arrive soon and everything will be kept ready by tonight. The operation could start once situation favour us,” he said.
He further opined that the Kumkis would be used in loading the animal inside the truck, adding that the operation would be carried out without any damage to Chinnathambi or general public.
“We would also compensate the farmers for the loss incurred by Chinnathambi and make sure the animal is safely transported out of this area,” he said.
Meanwhile, Chinnathambi who had a long sleep inside a sugarcane farm, roamed around feeding from Coconut trees, plantain, paddy and sugar cane.
The animal was being monitored by field staff from Tirupur, Coimbatore, Pollachi and Palani Forest Divisions along with staff from ATR.
