Vellore: A lady advocate from Tirupattur has been issued with a ‘no-caste-no-religion’ certificate, as a result of her tireless legal battle.

Sneha, a lawyer from Tirupattur in Vellore district has been issued with a ‘no-caste-no-religion’ certificate which notifies that she does not belong to any caste or religion. She has been battling for this certificate legally since 2017.

Commenting on the victory, Sneha opined, "Both parents are lawyers and I have two sisters who are also lawyers. Since our childhood, we were raised up by our parents reiterating to us that there is no caste or religion. Even at the time when we had to be enrolled at school, my father pointed out that that I do not belong to any caste or religion due to which we had to face many queries. I was named as Sneha, whereas my sisters were named Mumtaj and Jeniffer to ensure that our family should have no trace of any religion or caste.

Even my husband Parthasarathy, who is a writer and myself have named our daughters as Athirai Nasreen, Aathila Irene and Jessi. "Though people have the right of 'caste,' we are not allowed to say that we do no belong to any particular caste or religion, due to which my applications were trashed in past. I have achieved this only due to the support of the Tirupattur Deputy Collector, Priyanka Pangajam and Tahsildhar Sathyamoorthy," she added.
