The team headed by veterinarian Dr. C. Ashokan is stationed at a private farm where Chinnathambi is currently spotted.
The elephant continues to move inside the sugarcane field and field staff have been posted to follow the animal.
Kumkis Kaleem and Suyambu are also stationed nearby to start the operation.
Once darted, the elephant would be transported either to Mudumalai or Anamalai in a truck.
