Every year, globally February 13 is observed as World Radio Day, to acknowledge the role of Radio in awareness and ameliorating life of the masses.

This year's theme is "Dialogue, Tolerance and Peace".

In this connection, Abudhahir, a resident of the city who has been an ardent fan of Radio along with Rotary Club had organised an expo to showcase the different types of radios' used in the past 100 years as a mark of tribute to the founders of Radio.

Tributes were paid to the founders/legends who contributed to the glory of Radio .

"Though modern day technology and devices have surpassed radios', the role of radios has been monumental in connecting the masses. Radio is a powerful communication tool and a low cost medium. Not to forget, radios were predominantly used during the second world war to communicate. These days, youngsters cannot connect much with a radio but people of the yester era cannot deny it's purposefulness and the day-long entertainment", opined Abudhahir.

The public were enthralled to see the different types of radios and elders shared nostalgic memories at the expo

"On this World Radio Day, let us recognize the power of radio to promote dialogue, tolerance and peace." — UN Secretary-General António Guterres
