Coimbatore : The ‘Masimaga’ chariot festival is celebrated at the 1200-year old Arangandhar temple every year. The chariot festival began with flag hoisting today.
Coimbatore : A large number of devotees participated in the chariot procession held as part of the the Masi Magam festival at the 1200-year old Arangandhar temple in Karamadai.

The chariot festival began with flag hoisting today. Special poojas were offered to the presiding diety near the ‘Kodi’ tree. Following this, a flag with the deity was taken for a procession around the temple and was hoisted at the ‘Kodi’ Kambam'.

Following this, a special events ‘vaibavangal’ -- annavaganam, simmavaganam, anumandha vaganam are to take place in the days ahead.

On February 19, the chariot procession of Aranganadhar along with Sridevi and Poodevi is to take place. TNSTC has arranged for special buses for the festival which will be attended by lakhs of devotees from Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Pollachi, Udumalpet, Tirupur and adjoining areas.
District administration have also made special arrangements to manage the crowd.
