Coimbatore: Foresters have identified a hatch back model car that was heavily damaged, possibly caused by a collision with an elephant near Dhumanur Pirivu on Anaikatti Road here.
While sources claim that the driver had hit an elephant while playing between Mannarkad and Mettupalayam around 10.30 pm yesterday, foresters have denied claims stating that the car was attacked by a single elephant.

“The driver had stopped his car well in advance seeing a wild elephant. The animal had ran towards the car and attacked it. While the driver escaped with minor injuries, the front part of the car is heavily damaged,” said Suresh, Forest Range Officer of Coimbatore Range.

Meanwhile, activists have alleged that the car could have hit against the animal at top speed and requested to spot the animal, which could be possibly injured.
