A special team from the Nilgiris who rushed to Kerala on Saturday arrested Bijin and Deepu today. The police are on the lookout for the other accused, Valayar Manoj and K C Sayan.
When the Kodanad murder and heist case came up for hearing last Friday morning at the Ooty Court, the four accused including Bijin, Deepu, Sayan and Manoj were absent. Though their lawyers sought time for their clients to appear, the Judge adjourned the hearing to 2 pm and ordered the police to arrest them.
The Nilgiris District Judge P Vadamalai passed the order on Friday cancelling the bail granted to the two key accused in the 2017 Kodanad heist. Earlier, the State government had contended that the two prime accused, K V Sayan and K C Manoj were hampering the investigation and intimidating witnesses by making public statements. Nearly a month after Sayan alleged the involvement of Tamil Nadu CM in the case in a video released by a journalist, the Court had ordered the arrest of Sayan.
