Tirupur : Vaiko, the MDMK Chief has stated that his party will protest with 'black flag' to Prime Minister Modi wherever he visits in Tamil Nadu.
Tirupur : Vaiko, the MDMK Chief has stated that his party will protest with 'black flag' to Prime Minister Modi wherever he visits in Tamil Nadu.
The MDMK party members headed by its Chief Vaiko staged a 'black flag' protest in front of the Tirupur Railway Station opposing the visit of the Prime Minister who visited the city yesterday. During the protest, the MDMK party members accused that Tamil Nadu was betrayed on livelihood issues including the Gaja Cyclone and the Cauvery issue. Hundreds of MDMK party cadres raised slogans condemning the Prime Minister by holding aloft black flags.
While Vaiko was speaking during the protest, a woman named Sasikala of BJP interrupted and raised the slogan ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai.’ Allegedly, the woman also attempted to attack the protestors. MDMK party members pelted stones in return int he course of which the glasses of a car were shattered. The police at the spot took Sasikala to hospital but a case has been registered against her at the Tirupur North police station.
During the protest, Vaiko indulged in arguments with the police thrice when they attempted to arrest the protestors. During the protest, suddenly, a MDMK cadre, Thilagar climbed an electric pole which led to some tense moments. The cadre climbed down after nearly an hour, after being requested by the MDMK Chief Vaiko.
During his speech, Vaiko opined on various issues saying, "Modi has betrayed us in many ways. In many issues, including Cauvery, Hydrocarbon, Neutrino and Mullai Periyar, the Centre has unbearably betrayed us. The Centre is attempting to impose Sanskrit. Soon, the Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy will go to prison. I do not have any personal vengeance against the Prime Minister Modi. I oppose him as he tries to destroy our state of Tamil Nadu. I will continue with my protest for the rights of our people, till my last breath.
The Hindutva outfits are attempting to instigate religion-based violence in our State in the hope of gaining power. Tamil Nadu will also be hugely affected due to the dam safety bill. If the bill is implemented, it will lead to the shattering of the country into pieces as it happened in Soviet Union.
In his address to the media, he said, "We will stage protests wherever Modi heads in Tamil Nadu. The DMK coalition will emerge victorious in the upcoming Parliamentary election and assembly elections." Around 200 MDMK cadres have been arrested after staging the 'black flag' protests for more than two hours.
