Nilgiris : With the much-awaited tourist summer season around the corner, officials from the Nilgiris Mountain Railway (NMR) announced that 15 new carriages will be added to NMR before March, this year.
Repair work and giving a face-lift to the NMR has been underway for a year now, with an aim to attract more tourists this upcoming tourist season. Work has been undertaken to operate the steam engine of the NMR too. "As tourists show great interest in travelling in this special NMR train being operated from Mettupalayam to Ooty and back, 15 new carriages will be added to the NMR before March," stated officials. They added that modern restrooms will also be part of these new carriages.
